THE FAMILY: Born on April 18th, an Aries thru-and-thru. I grew up north of the Mason-Dixon line near Philadelphia PA, but migrated south years ago and never looked back! I'm a church-going, pickup drivin', critter lovin' country dude...and proud of it! I LOVE WHAT I DO: I love people. I enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life, and contributing in some small way to making their day a little brighter, a little more fun, a little more thought-provoking...maybe put a smile on a face~! If I can touch just a few people every day, I feel like I've accomplished something. I'm also the Operations Manager for all six of Clear Channel's stations here in Jackson, which keeps me pretty busy. And you thought I had a three-hour a day job! (I wish!)
THIS "RADIO" THING: I got interested in radio in a sixth-grade play where I played an announcer broadcasting from a department store and interviewing Santa at Christmas time. I built a home-brew radio station in my basement that actually broadcast for a few miles in all directions. I landed my first radio job while I was in high school at my local station as a weekend DJ. Had a blast, and the bug bit me and I’ve been involved in radio ever since. My very first job was a "radio" job (sort of)…at Radio Shack, at 15! I’ve always been a gadget guy and a music nut…radio broadcasting was a natural combination of the two. I have a state of the art home studio today. As a hobby, I collect, repair, trade, and sell vintage broadcast gear and microphones. These days, it's not just traditional "radio" any more. It's about delivering content....music, entertainment, written commentaries (blogs), social networking, and keeping in touch with the community...and helping others to do the same. SOCIAL NETWORKING: Nowadays what we do is so much more than broadcasting on a radio frequency. We have Facebook. Twitter. i-Heart Radio on your cell phone! Online web pages (like the one you're reading). Many, many more ways to reach out and touch our listener friends. The new technology is making two-way access between you and I much easier. Look me up on Facebook!
I LOVE TO TRAVEL: Been to Hawaii once...and I love the beaches of Florida and the Gulf. Just wish I had more time and $$$ to get around. Never been out west to the Grand Canyon. One of these days....
FAVE ARTISTS: So many…and so many different genres...George Strait, George Jones, Alabama, Carrie Underwood, Tim & Faith, Rascall Flatts, Darius Rucker, Chicago, Elton John, Faith & Tim, the Eagles, Paul Simon, anything Motown, and ELO. Shall I keep going...???
MOST FAMOUS PEOPLE I EVER MET: Interviewed, hung with, spent time with, broke bread with...Amy Grant, Alan Shepard, Tim and Faith, Elton John, Whitney Houston, George Strait, Journey, Chicago, Jay Leno, Brooks & Gunn, Hall & Oates, had a phone conversation with Bill Clinton recently.....waaaay too many more to even mention! Anyway, fame is fleeting!
FAVORITE FOODS: Steak & Bake, Prime Rib, Authentic Philly Cheese steaks (NO LETTUCE, TOMATO!)... Pizza (I love Pizza Shack on State St.), and all kinds of soup. I eat hot soup even in August! (CABBAGE SOUP AND HOME MADE VEGGIE SOUP rule!) HOW DO I SPEND MY SPARE TIME?: WHAT spare time??? When I can, I'm at the barn....Here are some of my hay-burnin' babies.....
WORDS TO LIVE BY: People won't remember what you SAY. They probably won't remember what you DO. But they WILL remember how you make them FEEL.
My job is trying to make people FEEL GOOD!
Hopefully I can put a smile on your face or make you chuckle...or even forget about some hardship for just a minute or two....then I'm happy!
