Domestic Short Hair-Black Mix:

Hi there! I came to the shelter as a little kitten but before I knew it, I got to be an adolescant kitty and no one really wanted to look at me anymore. I am so playful and sooo sweet. I just know that there is a special family who will visit me and realize that they can't live without me. I would love to have another feline friend in my new home who likes to rumble and tumble and play. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please contact Elizabeth at cara4cats@gmail.com.

This Will Break Your Heart...

Hey Rick & Kim:

PLEASE help me!!!   Someone threw out a mama and 2 little puppies (one male and one female) at my house several weeks ago.  The puppies appear to have a lot of lab in them.  Their feet are even webbed.  And the Mama has the sweetest disposition.  Her whole body wags when you talk to her, not just her tail.

We already have 3 dogs and 3 cats, and they are not too happy with the invasion!!!  I just can not keep them.  I have spoken with CARA and ARF, but they are bursting at the seams.  I hate to "dump" on them.  If you could PLEASE help me find them a forever home, I would be most grateful!!!

I have attached a few pictures.  I can be contacted at my work number listed below or on my cell @ 601-480-8440.  Thanks again!!  And thanks for loving animals!!!

Somebody Save This Cute Puppy!!

Hi everyone,

Bill was delivering dog food at the Natchez Humane Society and saw this sweet  hound puppy. The Society is overwhelmed right now so I was hoping that maybe  someone would be interested in this little girl. There is also a purebred collie there if you know of anyone looking for one.

Thanks,

Our daughter, Addison is extremely upset that she is missing, she is a part of our family.  I have posted some things on face book and everyone is telling me to email you because you are a huge animal lover. So if you would please post this on your web page i would be forever grateful. I am attaching pictures-Thank you soo much!

Fred and Ethel....

Please help me find these dogs
a home.  This is a dear friend
of mine & they've had some
hard times & are having to
move out of their home & rent
& can only have 2 dogs but
they have 4.

They are running out of options
for the pups.  They are HUGE
animal lovers & this is VERY
hard for them.

If interested contact
Ella @
mommarowe@comcast.net

Ethel is about 4 yrs old.  She's very obedient and hates to get in trouble.  She's never bitten anyone or snapped at anyone.  She lays under end tables or desks or under the bed where it's nice and cool.  But she loves sleeping on the bed, too.  She has long hair and gets very warm so she loves the cold floor.  She won't "speak" but will bark at intruders.  She comes to you when called instead of running off.  Beware of her tongue -- she has a long one and LOVES to use it!  LOL.  She's french kissed lots of our friends when they weren't prepared.  She loves kids -- since we have Don Edward who's 10 and tortures her on a daily basis.  :)  She's just so, so sweet.
Sassy is nicknamed "goofy."  :)  She was a stray that we took in and fell in love with.  We always thought she was dumb, but she's the smartest one!!  She loves to chase/retrieve balls -- or socks if they're rolled up into a ball.  She is a great protector.  She barks and warms you of guests, but if you tell her to be quiet, she will.  Very obedient.  She has a pillow (we're on the 3rd one b/c they wear out) that she LOVES to suckle.  IDK why -- guess she was taken away from her mom too young or something.  But she grasps it with her front paws and sucks on it.  She never means to tear it, but the pillow just wears out.  You can tell her to go get her pillow, and she'll usually get it and come back with it.  Sassy needs personal attention and love.  She doesn't like to be alone -- but the pillow or a ball helps if she's left alone.  She doesn't lick but she rubs all over you -- kind of like a cat.  She LOVES to be touched.  So so sweet.  And if you're stern with her at all, she's sad.  It hurts her feelings.  She also comes back when she's called b/c she wants to please you so much.  Sassy also loves kids.
We really want someone to adopt the dogs separately.  These two were the last two adopted is the reason we're willing to adopt them out.  We still have two other dogs that we can't part with, and they're the WORST behaved!!  LOL  We want someone to adopt them that will stay in touch with us and let us know how they're doing.  We love our animals almost as much as our kids, and this is very, very hard on us.
Thanks so much, Robin.  Sorry for the novel, but I wanted to cover everything.

1 year lab desperately seeking new home

From: Pat Hall [mailto:hhalljr@comcast.net]

I am writing to each of you to ask you to share your thoughts about a
dog we have had with Jackson Friends since February.  As you all know,
Stella came to us via a big hearted woman in Northeast Jackson who had
found her and didn't want to take her MARL which was her only
alternative at the time she called our organization back in the winter
of 2009.  We agreed to take her on and had her kenneled at Dr. Ford's
for about a month.  She was getting kennel aggressive but she loved
people and we had her assessed by me, Amy, and Sylvia Burnham.  Sylvia
said Stella was "doable" and "teachable" and knew Stella couldn't stay
in a vet's office any longer.  So we worked out a contract to have her
boarded and trained at Sylvia's where Stella was lovingly trained to
leash and had the best months of her life.

She had several interested people who came to visit her and see about
adopting her but Stella, though trained, had a tendency to get
energized and sometimes couldn't calm herself and she would end up in
a fight with Sylvia's other dog(s) which was broken up by her husband
or herself, both being trainers.  Most of the time Stella got along
with the other dogs.  She was taken to doggy obedience classes as a
demo dog sometimes and performed well in these settings.  However, we
all knew Stella, to be homed successfully, would need to be in a place
where the people knew how to bring her energy level down and get
Stella under control.

Amy contacted Best Friends in Utah and they said they were full.
Fortunately Sylvia didn't say come and get the dog right now but I
feel like, as a courtesy to her, we should get Stella this week.

It appears to me that we have no other place to take her so we should
probably consider having her euthanized.  I believe this is the first
time we have run into this kind of situation and it is deeply
distressing to me and I suppose to several of you.  It is distressing
because basically she is a good dog in a lot of ways and she is a
healthy dog and always has been.  Also I do not like to be in the
position of being the one who decides the fate of any living being.  I
have given prayerful consideration of this situation.  I don't believe
any of the rest of us have nearly the training and place to take her
on as our own.  So please think about this and again, let me and all
of us make a timely decision.  If we decide to euthanize her, please
advise as to particulars.  I am available Monday and Thursday of the
coming week.  If we decide to have her put to sleep, I feel like we
should think about being present with her and I am willing but would
like someone with me as not to shoulder this alone.  Pat

My Dog Needs A Good Home!

Rick and Kim ,

I always listen to y'all in the morning and
love hearing the great success stories
concerning pets.

It's such a blessing that y'all care so much
and do all that y'all do for the animals.

When my dilemma came up, I immediately
thought of contacting y'all.  I rescued "Josey"
when she was 5 months old from the Mississippi Animal Rescue league.

I saw her sitting proudly in the back corner,
quietly taking everything in while all the
other dogs were going crazy.  I said I
just had to have her.

That was 3 years ago.  She has been such
a great dog and has been so precious.
She loves our children and is great with
them.  She even lets our 16 month old
lay all over her whenever she likes.

We had horses and a donkey and she was
also great with them as well, she never
even bothered the chickens...besides the
occasional egg swipe, LOL

Unfortunately our circumstances have
changed and we are in the process of
moving to a new home, and we just can't
keep her.

I really want her to go to a great loving
home, ideally one with space she can roam
and run.  I thought y'all may could help find
her just the right spot.
Thanks!

Lauren Taylor
